Kunti Betta is an isolated pair of rocky hillocks in Pandavapura, Mandya district of Karnataka. The hillocks rest at an altitude of 878 m. Kunti Betta is not a far-off place from Thonnur Lake. It is located at about 130 km (81 miles) from Bangalore. It is said to be the end of the exile of Pandavas, five brothers who are the centre of the Indian epic Mahabharata and their mother, Kunti. So, this town and the hills came to be known as Pandavapura and Kunti Betta, respectively (betta in Kannada means hill). At the foot of the mountain is a temple associated with Kunti. Kunti Betta is one of the most popular trekking places for tourists. The destination is mainly known for night treks and camping. Kunti Betta is also known as French Rocks, after a regiment of French soldiers who collaborated with rulers Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan in their conflict against the British and were garrisoned at the spot.

The mythological importance of the place narrates the tales of Kunti and Pandavas, who are believed to have lived in these hillocks during their exile.
It is recommended to carry out a night trekking trip as the place has many fireflies that are now extinct today. The surroundings are filled with sugarcane, paddy fields, and coconut trees.
One is a crocodile face rock , which gives a bird's eye view of the whole place. Some are in the shape of utensils, and it is said that the Pandavas used them to cook food.
Giant footprint-like formations called Bheemana Pada can also be found here. With its historical significance and splendid natural beauty, Kunti Betta is a magical place to unwind and cherish quality and peaceful time with your loved ones.

The best time to visit Kunti Betta is between April and June and between November and March. During this time, the weather is quite pleasant, and the atmosphere turns into a lovely display of ambient colours. From July to October, the hilltop witnesses the rainy season, which must be avoided when visiting Kunti Betta.
The monsoon season is not one of the best times to visit Kunti Betta. The wet roads and slippery trails make it very tiresome and difficult to stay afoot, and the terrain can be a major problem to traverse.
Always carry enough water with you to avoid incidents of dehydration.
Ensure you wear comfortable clothes and footwear to avoid unease.
Since the trail is long, ensure you are physically fit to undertake the trek. Exercising and stretching activities a few days before the trek might be helpful.
For a night trek, make sure that you are equipped with adequate torches and batteries, which will be very useful.

The nearest Kunti Betta- Mysore Junction railway station is approximately 30 km away. You can rent a car or auto , and you even have to take the bus.
It is approximately 130 km from Bangalore and around 33 km from Mysore. You can easily rent a car or , if possible , go by car to Kunti Betta.
