TIPS FOR VISITING MINCHUKALLU BETTA: 

  • It is not one of the good times to visit Minchukallu Betta during the monsoon season because the wet roads and slippery trails make it  exhausting and challenging to stay afoot , and the trails can be a considerable problem to cross. 

  • Carry enough water with you to avoid incidents of dehydration. 

  • Use comfortable clothes and footwear to avoid unease. 

  • Since the long trail , you must be fit enough to take  the trek. A few days of exercise and stretching before the trek may also prove helpful. 

  • If it is a night trek,  you must be well-prepared with torches and batteries, which will be  helpful. 

HOW TO REACH: 

To reach Minchukallu Betta, one normally travels to Chikkamagalur and then drives toward the hillock.  The drive involves a mix of  good roads and narrow, hilly paths that  add to the adventure. As such, Hassan is the closest major town, but from Chikkamagalur, it is just about an hour's drive from the base of the hill. 

The nearest major airport to this region is Mangalore International Airport. From Chikkamagalur, on your arrival here, you can hire a taxi from the village or take an auto-rickshaw to reach the base of Minchukallu Betta. 

Chikkamagalur does not have a station near it. The nearest major railway junction is Kadur Junction, about 40-45 kilometres from Chikkamagalur. After reaching the city, one could hire a local taxi or an auto-rickshaw to the base of Minchukallu Betta.
