Chunchi Falls

Chunchi Falls is the most beautiful fall in Karnataka. The location of this fall is about 80 km from Bangalore near the town of Kanakapura. Being a hidden treasure of the area, it has the beauty of the fall recognized, along with its surroundings being nature itself: nature-loving, adventure-seeking, and photography interest people who visit this place. As a result, in the history of Chunchi Falls, the geography, significance, and experience of visitors will be elaborated upon in this article. River Arkavathi is, in fact, a stretch of Kaveri River running parallel through southern Karnataka . This stretch is called Chunchi Falls , originating at an elevation of nearly 1,500  meters above sea level from Nandi Hills with a continuous stretch that cuts through rock formations and gradually, it falls by making several mini-waterfalls, and that one so famous among the waterfalls called Chunchi Falls. The Arkavathi River is flowing down the rocky outcrops. It creates a waterfall, which falls about 50 feet or 15 meters. There are many tiny rivulets bifurcated from the river down the flow of rocks, making the view picturesque. A deep pool and gorges in abundance surrounded by verdant have made this spot a breathtaking view, especially when water showers during monsoons. 

Chunchi Falls is a locality with vast biodiversity, placed under the Ramanagara Hills of the Deccan Plateau. A number of species of flora exist in the region. The plant  species that dominate the majority of the area are mostly shrubs, herbs, and trees. Just sleeping in the open with starlight up above and water crashing as background noises made it a unique experience. The best time to visit Chunchi Falls is during the monsoon season, June to September when the falls are at their best. There is abundant water flow and the greenery around is luscious and fresh. However, it should be  noted  that during the monsoon, the river can be dangerous with the strength of the current, so care needs to be taken near the river. Chunchi Falls is always a treasure. 2. Kanakapura: This small town is popular for its dense greenery near Chunchi Falls. This place is known for having peaceful surroundings, nature walks, and visiting plantations like tobacco, coffee, and silk farms. It is the destination. 

3. Bheemeshwari: It is at a distance of 20 km from Chunchi Falls. It is one of the popular fishing and adventure places. Here, people can see the serene river view, wildlife sanctuary, and activities like camping, coracle rides, and fishing. 

4. Muthathi: Muthathi is an ideal village that is pretty , with the Kaveri River flowing around it. Popularity is gained due to river-side views, boating, and jungle safaris that make it ideal for a weekend getaway

5. Savandurga: About 40 km from Chunchi Falls, Savandurga is one of the biggest monolith hills in Asia. The place is a favourite among trekkers who take up the challenging climb and enjoy panoramic views and the Savandurga Fort at the top, which is said to be of historical significance. 

6. Nandi Hills: About 50 kms from Chunchi Falls, Nandi Hills is one of the best hill stations and a weekend escapade much known for cool weather, ancient fort, and sunrise views. It also carries the Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple. 

7. Ranganathaswamy Temple: This is one of the ancient Ranganath temples, which can be considered as Lord Vishnu. It exists in the city center and also holds brilliant architectural marvels and heavy historical value. It attracts history lovers and spiritual beings. 

8. Bannerghatta National Park: Bannerghatta National Park is another destination, which is an hour's drive from Chunchi Falls. It has a zoo, safari rides, and a butterfly park. It is the perfect destination for wildlife photographers and nature lovers. 

9. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD): Temple Complex: This is a temple of Lord Venkateshwara. The place is about 80 km away from Chunchi Falls. If the temple is accounted for, then it might be one of the most prosperous temples and religious life as that of Tirupati Balaji Temple. 

10. Art of Living International Center: Around 20 km from Chunchi Falls, Hesaraghatta Lake is a huge spiritual retreat and meditation center that provides space for personal growth, yoga, and meditation. 

11. Hesaraghatta Lake: It is about 50 kilometers from Chunchi Falls, and therefore, it is the perfect place to organize a picnic; otherwise, it is the ultimate heaven for nature lovers. In fact, there are migratory birds present in the Hesaraghatta Lake. It is also very useful for those interested in Avifauna. 

12. Kokrebellur Bird Sanctuary: Kokrebellur is a small village that is around about 60 kilometers away from Chunchi Falls with good pelicans and a painted stork population. However, it turns out to be one of the wonderful destinations for bird sight, where bird watching is well established during their migratory periods. 

How To Reach:

• By Bus: From Bangalore you get a number of buses from Majestic or Shivajinagar bus station to Kanakapura. From there, you will have to take an auto-rickshaw or taxi to get near the falls. 

• By Train: The nearest major railway station is Bangalore City Railway Station (SBC). From there, you will be able to get a taxi, auto, or local bus to get to Kanakapura and further reach the falls. 

• By Air: The nearest airport is the Kempegowda International Airport, which is also known as BLR. From there, you can take a taxi or private vehicle for an approximate time of 1.5 hours to 2 hours up to Chunchi Falls.
