STORY OF DOLPHIN NOSE:

Before independence, the British army used it as a Military Camp. There is a Hindu Temple, a Church, and a Mosque on a nearby hill. In 1804, British and French forces fought the battle of Vizagapatnam near this hill. A lighthouse on this hill guides ships to enter Visakhapatnam port . The lighthouse currently uses 7 million candle power that covers up to a distance of 64 kilometres. Recently, the government of India indicated that it is planning to start "lighthouse tourism", which includes this lighthouse in the tour.

The place gets its name because of the protruding flat rock that resembles the nose of a dolphin. It is from this point that you can get the best view of the valleys beneath. A visit to this viewpoint is surely promising as the view itself is not the only offering it offers. The trail up to the dolphin’s nose is challenging enough to get you excited but not so difficult that it would tire you. The hike up to this point has a calming effect as it is adorned by elegant pine trees and the crisp, cool fog around that sets Kodaikanal a step above any other hill station. Do not forget to stop on your way to take a look at the small waterfalls that glide along this trail.

Walk a little further from the viewpoint, and you will find yourself at the Dolphin’s Nose Echo Point, from where you can wonder at the mystery of Mother Nature as its rich terrain and valleys return to you any sound you send it, but only after adding its flavour of magic. The backdrop of mountains and clouds is ideal if you want to capture the moments that were well spent. This site is perfect for soaking in the soothing charisma of nature. It'll also surely make you connect with yourself and help you realize how you are also a part of the mysterious tangle of nature.

Apart from Dolhin’s Nose, the hill station of Kodaikanal offers other kinds of tourist spots. Some of these are Berijam Lake, Coaker’s Walk, Kurinjiandavar Temple, Kodaikanal Lake, Green Valley View, Silent Valley View, Devil's Kitchen, Guna Caves, Pine Forest, Shanthi Valley, Silver Cascade, Telescope House, Kukal Cave and Shenbaganur Museum, etc.
