Silver Cascade Falls

Monsoon Season- June to September:  The best time to visit the waterfall when flows are at their fullest. The brilliant green colours of the falls and surroundings  produce an exotic, fresh feel to the surroundings. 1. Abbey Falls: Abbey Falls lies about 9 km from Madikeri. Among Coorg's famous natural attractions, Abbey Falls is one of the most spectacular. Coffee plantations and lush green woods cover where this waterfall flows forth from  nearly 70 feet into a rocky gorge. To view the falls, one must take short walks over a tree-lined trail, and the falls are also provided with a hanging bridge that is constructed to take in a close view of the falls by the tourists.  In the monsoon, Abbey Falls reaches its peak; thus, most  people get enthusiastic to visit the location. One can trek to the place, it becomes an exciting photography spot, or pass the time admiring the beauty of nature. 

2. Raja's Seat: Raja's Seat is a panoramic view, about 7 km from Madikeri. The name "Raja's Seat" is derived from the fact that the Coorg kings used to visit this site to watch the spectacular sunsets. It is a viewpoint that offers amazing views of rolling hills, valleys, and spread-out coffee plantations that make Coorg so photogenic. It is purely thrilling during the evenings when its sky is painted with shades of orange and pink, making it an ideal place to sit back and watch the sunset.

3. Omkareshwara Temple: Omkareshwara Temple is a major historical and spiritual destination. It is situated about 8 km from Madikeri in Coorg. Essentially, the site is surrounded by Brahmagiri Hills and is about 1,276 meters above elevation. 5. Dubare Elephant Camp: Dubare Elephant Camp, 30 km from Madikeri, is an experience of wildlife along the banks of River Kaveri. There are many elephants here, and one has the rare chance to pet the largest animal in the world. The camp has a view of bathing elephants in the river, feeding them, and even riding an elephant ride in the forest. 

6. Iruppu Falls: Iruperu Falls: It is yet another gorgeous waterfall, this time located about 60 km from Madikeri. The falls are deep within the Brahmagiri Hills , famous for its serene scenic setting and tranquil atmosphere. Iruppu Falls is another  popular destination for trekking with the well-marked trail; one takes through dense forests and picturesque landscapes. 

HOW TO REACH 

Silver Cascade Falls is located near the Kodagu or Coorg district headquarters; hence, easy access from every corner of Karnataka and neighbouring states. Here is how to reach Silver Cascade Falls: 

The nearest airport would be Mangalore International Airport, about 140 km and about 3-4 hours by road. Further, it is well-connected to cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, and Goa. You can rent a taxi from Mangalore or hire a private car to go straight to Madikeri and then to Silver Cascade Falls. 

It does not have a railway station of its own, but the closest significant railway station is Mysuru Junction, more popularly known as Mysore. From Mysuru, a taxi or bus is available to Madikeri. 

Coorg is also reasonably well connected by buses from Bangalore, Mysore, and other towns. KSRTC runs regular buses to Madikeri, apart from travel agents that run private buses to and from Coorg. You can hire a taxi or auto-rickshaw from there.
