At Escape2explore, we’re committed to providing a memorable and safe trekking experience in the majestic Himalayas. The terrain and weather in the Himalayas can be unpredictable, so please follow these essential do’s and don’ts to ensure a successful and enjoyable trek.
Do’s:
Listen to Your Guide: Our professional guides are experts in Himalayan trekking. Always follow their instructions and trust their judgment, especially in tricky or high-altitude areas.
Acclimatize Properly: The Himalayas mean high altitudes, which require proper acclimatization. We’ll ensure a gradual ascent, but it’s crucial to take things slow and follow the itinerary to avoid altitude sickness. Drink plenty of water and rest when needed.
Wear the Right Gear: The Himalayas can be cold, even in summer. Wear layered clothing, including thermal wear, waterproof jackets, and sturdy, insulated trekking boots with good grip. Bring a hat and gloves to protect yourself from cold winds.
Hydrate and Eat Well: Dehydration happens faster at high altitudes. Keep sipping water throughout the trek and eat enough food to maintain your energy. Our team will provide regular breaks to recharge.
Use Trekking Poles: Himalayan trails can be steep and uneven, so using trekking poles can greatly reduce the strain on your knees and help you maintain balance.
Respect Local Culture: The Himalayan region is home to diverse local communities with rich cultural traditions. Respect the customs, interact politely with locals, and follow any guidelines provided by your guide.
Carry Essential Items: Bring items like sunscreen (even in the snow!), lip balm, sunglasses, and a first-aid kit with altitude sickness medication. It’s better to be prepared for the high-altitude sun and cold winds
Be Environmentally Conscious: The Himalayas are pristine and need our care. Follow the ‘Leave No Trace’ policy by carrying back all waste, respecting wildlife, and leaving nature undisturbed.
Don’ts:
Don’t Ignore Altitude Sickness Symptoms: If you feel dizzy, have headaches, or feel nauseous, inform your guide immediately. Ignoring these signs can lead to serious health issues. We can adjust the pace or descent if needed.
Don’t Rush or Overexert Yourself: The key to trekking in the Himalayas is steady progress. Don’t rush ahead, as it can strain your body at high altitudes. Take breaks when needed and walk at a pace that’s comfortable for you.
Don’t Pack Unnecessary Items: Light backpacks make for easier treks. We’ll help you with a packing list, so don’t bring heavy or non-essential items that will weigh you down on steep climbs.
Avoid Trekking in Dangerous Weather: The Himalayan weather can change rapidly. We monitor conditions closely, but if your guide suggests delaying the trek due to rain, snow, or windstorms, trust their decision.
Don’t Wander Off Alone: The vast Himalayan landscape can be disorienting. Always stick with the group, and let your guide know if you need to stop or take a break. Avoid exploring unfamiliar areas on your own.
Avoid Alcohol and Smoking: Consuming alcohol or smoking can worsen the effects of altitude sickness and lower your stamina. It’s best to avoid them before and during the trek for your safety and well-being.
Don’t Harm the Environment: Avoid littering or causing damage to the natural surroundings. The Himalayas are fragile, so we ask you to be mindful and carry back any waste to designated disposal areas.

Gulabi Kantha Trek is a scenic Himalayan trail located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India, near Hanuman Chatti. Sitting at an altitude of around 12,000 ft, this trek offers stunning views of the Bandarpoonch, Shivalik, and Dhauladhar ranges. It's a hidden gem, ideal for nature lovers seeking a peaceful yet adventurous experience away from crowded trails.
The Gulabi Kantha Trek is considered an easy to moderate trek, making it suitable for beginners with a basic fitness level. The trail isn’t technically challenging, but does include steady climbs and cold temperatures. Prior trekking experience isn't mandatory, but some physical preparation, like regular walks and light cardio, is highly recommended to enjoy the journey comfortably.
The best time to embark on the Gulabi Kantha Trek is between May to mid-July and September to November. During these months, the weather is pleasant, and the trail is rich with alpine meadows, wildflowers, and clear skies. Monsoon and peak winter seasons are best avoided due to slippery trails or heavy snow conditions, which can limit access.
Mobile network availability is limited on the Gulabi Kantha Trek. You'll likely lose signal once you leave Hanuman Chatti. It's best to inform your loved ones in advance. Some trekkers occasionally catch BSNL or Jio signals in higher altitudes, but it's very spotty. Enjoy the digital detox—it adds to the magic of being in the mountains.
The weather on the Gulabi Kantha Trek can be unpredictable. Days are generally pleasant with temperatures around 10–15°C, while nights can drop to 0°C or below. Carry layered clothing to adapt easily. Expect chilly winds, especially at higher altitudes. It's always a good idea to check the forecast before departure for sudden changes in conditions.
Gulabi Kantha is part of a biodiverse region. You'll see lush alpine meadows, wild orchids, rhododendrons, and dense deodar forests. Wildlife is shy but includes Himalayan monals, barking deer, and foxes. Though rare, trekkers have also spotted eagles circling overhead. Remember to respect the natural habitat—observe without disturbing, and leave no trace behind.
Yes! The trek begins at Hanuman Chatti, a small village with deep mythological and spiritual roots. Locals are warm and welcoming, and you may even witness small village rituals or folk stories. This trek is a beautiful blend of natural serenity and cultural richness, allowing you to connect not just with nature, but with local traditions too.
During the trek, you’ll be served wholesome, vegetarian meals prepared fresh by the support team. Expect comforting dishes like dal-rice, chapati, sabzi, soup, and hot tea. Snacks like energy bars and biscuits are also provided. The meals are simple yet nutritious to keep your energy levels high throughout the day. Special dietary needs can be accommodated on request.
Accommodation during the Gulabi Kantha Trek includes tents and sleeping bags provided by the organizers. These are pitched at scenic campsites along the trail. Tents are shared (usually 2-3 people), and sleeping arrangements are cozy with foam mats and warm sleeping bags. There are no permanent shelters, so you’ll be truly sleeping under the stars—literally.
Physical preparation is key. Start 3–4 weeks before your trek with brisk walking or jogging for at least 30 minutes a day. Add bodyweight exercises like squats and lunges for leg strength. Climbing stairs with a backpack helps too. The fitter you are, the more you'll enjoy the trek without feeling fatigued or missing out on the views.
Pack layered clothing, a waterproof jacket, good trekking shoes, a headlamp, personal toiletries, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a water bottle. Include any personal medication and light snacks. A small backpack for daily use is useful. Don’t forget your camera or phone to capture the surreal beauty! Keep it light—every extra kilo feels double at high altitudes.
Yes, you can join the trek to Gulabi Kantha Trek. The trip’s difficulty level is moderate and can be attained without someone’s support. Wear robust footwear, and comfortable clothes, and maintain basic fitness to complete the trek.
