Shivanasamudra Is known for its beautiful Gaganachukki and Bharachukki waterfalls, counted among southern India's most beautiful and important ones. It is famous for its natural and spiritual beauty. BEST TIME TO VISIT:

Shivanasamudra attracts visitors  from October to March , just after the monsoon falls. The waterfalls are at their fullest during these months as lush greenery covers them, and it is a cool climate with a pleasant atmosphere for sightseeing. 

Monsoon (June to September): Although excellent by monsoon, heavy rains would make it impossible to access the waterfalls and may also cause high water levels, preventing proximity. 

Winter (October to February): The best time to see is during winter , as the weather is amiable and falls appear at their finest. 

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Some walking is involved in reaching viewpoints for the waterfalls , so don't forget to pack  your comfortable shoes with sturdy soles if you have planned a trek or any of the secondary trails around the places. 

• Near the waterfalls, there are very few stalls selling local wares. Food and drinking water may become a problem. So carry water and some light snacks while visiting to remain refreshed. 

• Shivanasamudra is a calm, natural place. Keep the local surroundings hygienic by throwing the litter properly. 

• Do not scream beside waterfalls or disturb the wildlife in the sanctum. 

• Shivanasamudra is a tourist destination, but restaurants and hotels are few and far in the immediate area. 

• If you  visit during or shortly after the monsoon, check the weather beforehand, as the water level gets pretty high, becoming very slippery and inaccessible sometimes. 

HOW TO REACH:

It is located in the Mandya district of Karnataka, about 85 km from Mysore and around 140 km from Bangalore. Shivanasamudra can be reached by road as well as public transport. 

The nearest railhead to Shivanasamudra is Mandya railway station. It is about 30 km from there. Mandya railway station is well connected with trains from Bangalore and Mysore. One can hire a taxi or take the local bus towards Shivanasamudra. 

Nearest Airport: Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore - 120 km: One can hire a taxi or rent a car to reach the place from the airport. The road takes about 2.5 to 3 hours from the airport.
