Skandagiri Hill, also known as Kalavara Durga, is a fantastic trekking spot about 70 kilometres from Bangalore, Karnataka. It's famous for night treks and stunning sunrise views, with the added charm of an old fort from the 18th century. The trek is moderately challenging and usually takes around 4-5 hours. Most hikers start at night to reach the summit by sunrise, enjoying a mix of rocky paths and lush greenery along the way. When you reach the top, you'll be treated to breathtaking views, often covered in a blanket of clouds, creating a magical atmosphere. The ruins of the ancient fort and a small temple at the peak add to the historical feel of the place.
