It is situated around 500 km from Bangalore and is also well-connected with Goa and Mumbai. Nature is in abundance, and one can also experience the serenity on the beaches. Gokarna is a conflux of the Arabian Sea and Sayadaris with rocky hills, making it an ideal escape from the hustle and clamour of the city. Gokarna Beach Trek starts from Gokarna, which also means the cow’s ear, and is a holy site located on the Karavali Coast. Gokarna is nestled between the rivers of Agnashini and Gangavali. The centre of Gokarna is known for housing the famous Shiva Temple, where the ‘Aatmalinga’ is located. It is believed that Ravana places Aatmalinga of Lord Shiva. Gokarna is also hailed as one of the seven ‘Muktistalas’ or pilgrimage centers of Karnataka in India.
