Weekend Getaways from Bangalore

Here’s a list of weekend getaway destinations from Bangalore that offer a great mix of nature, culture, history, and adventure:

A short and memorable weekend getaway from bangalore

1. Hogenakkal Falls

Best Time to Visit Hogenakkal

The best time to visit Hogenakkal Waterfalls is between October and March. It does not get too hot during these months. It is a comfortable time for tourist activities. The temperatures range between 15°C and 30°C during these months and are thus good for sightseeing and other outdoor excursions. Cool-weather permits boating, trekking, and picnicking. It is peak tourist season, so more facilities are available to visitors.

The other best time for the monsoons is from June to September, when one can witness the grandeur of the waterfalls. Such heavy falls will establish a high flow of water; therefore, the look of these waterfalls must be majestic and eye-catching. The falling of water gives an atmosphere of misty mystery in the surroundings. This season is truly dangerous for cruising and sometimes even endangers the activities being carried out in boating. A number of routes and activities will be shut down because of the amount of water.

Summers from April to June aren't so great because it goes up to 40°C. Although it would be lesser water flow, the falls wouldn't be dramatic during the time of monsoons, it would attract fewer tourists there and peaceful to spend some quality time. It may be the perfect time when the summer season falls. It would be somewhat less crowded if one needed solitary time and could tolerate a little hot temperature. Hence, the best time to visit Hogenakkal is between the months of October to March, but if one wishes to see this place at its splendour of glory, then the rainy season also has something up its sleeve.

Boating at Hogenakkal Waterfalls is perhaps the most adventurous experience a tourist can enjoy here. Here, he gets the chance to tread close to roaring waterfalls, cross the Kaveri River, and enjoy the spectacular natural beauty pervading this region. There are two rides here - a traditional coracle ride and a speed boat ride, which gives two totally different views of the falls.

Coracle Boat Ride

Perhaps the most direct experience among many happening at Hogenakkal is the coracle boat rides. They are the locally traditional round boats made of bamboo and leaves of palm trees. These fisherfolk gently steer the ship through the waves of the turbulent river, whose currents are so powerful and strong. End. The boat picks up speed as you approach the falls. The mist of the waterfall encircles you. It thereby makes the air magical. It carries people towards falls, such that one manages to view a fantastic splashing of waters toward stones. Closeness to falls is an exciting experience since cascaded sounds of water are filled into the air.

It appears that the most thrilling one is the coracle ride, so you are taken close and close enough, whereby the boatman skillfully maneuvers his boat close to the falls, giving you an impression of sitting a few feet away from the impact zone of the water. Sometimes, the mist from the falls can create such an impression as if in a dream.

Speed Boat Ride

More adrenaline is encountered by those individuals who enjoy such an experience while taking this speed boat ride. These kinds of boats move at a fast speed and marvellously against the coracles. The feeling of racing the river at that height with the waterfalls of the surroundings provides something different. It will take them approximately anywhere between 15 to 20 minutes, and visitors will find a thrillingly yet relatively safe way in which to navigate through the rapids of the river and its related sceneries.

The speed boat will take you even deeper into the river further distance, and this gives you other perspectives on how the falls should look. The splashing of the waters with the passage of the rush boat through the currents only increases it in adventures, which are ideal for adventure lovers.

Boating Season

There is boating up to March that is safer compared to the navigational levels, while the weather and the outdoor situation are also more manageable. Boating is suspended throughout the monsoon season, from June until September, owing to the peak and dangerous waters. During monsoon times, the turbulent currents of this river made boating unsafe around the area,, so it would have to be adjusted if you ever want to explore these rides.

Boating at Hogenakkal is a must during a tour of this area. The coracle ride, with the silent experience of the real thing, is the best, though the speedboat ride is perfect for those who want to have some adventure. The beauty of the falls and nature left everyone with good memories.

Trekking and Activities at Hogenakkal

Apart from boating, there are many other activities that tourists from Hogenakkal can indulge in, which include immersion experiences in nature's beauty. This includes activities, for example, trekking apart from boating and others. Visitors come to see and live in the natural ambience and take a trek into the surrounding forest and rocky surface. Such facilities offer different tours for the amusement of trekkers.

Trekking Trails

Dense forests surround Hogenakkal, offer excellent treks, and hence have become an attraction that must be visited. It is not very difficult in terms of demanding treks; they take one through some fantastic stretches of nature, and the beauty of falls and the Kaveri River can easily be beheld from vantage points en route. The trekking routes would take one through waterfalls, riverbanks, and dense forests, providing an excellent scenario for a nature lover to get isolated in such an enchanting setting.

The best time to trek Hogenakkal is October to March because the climate is cooler and more pleasant. Trekking during the rainy season is dangerous because the tracks are slippery, and the water levels are higher, so it is better not to trek during the rainy season.

Fishing and Photography

Hogenakkal is a good fishing area. One can see local fishermen throwing their nets in the river. Not something that the tourists in general would want to do, some might even want to sit and watch or join the locals in fishing. Photography is another pretty hobby;, there are just such miracles of opportunities to get some simply fantastic shots at the waterfall and landscapes as well, especially in the morning or evening hours, and the light is simply marvelous.

Local Culture

The people also like to visit the nearby villages of Hogenakkal. It houses both Tamil and Kannada language people, though the local villagers have their rural markets and crafts of handicrafts, dress materials, etc. So, one can learn quite a lot regarding culture, historical aspects, and traditions from the same place, too.

2. Dariya Daulat Palace

It is one of the historical places that are found in the Karnataka town of Srirangapatna, India. It was previously referred to as the summer residency of Tipu Sultan. The man was an emperor from the Kingdom of Mysore. This, therefore, forms one of the crucial components of Indian colonial and royalty history. It speaks for the grandeur and the architectural excellence of the 18th century.

It was built by Tipu Sultan in 1784 as his summer palace. "Dariya Daulat" is a term which means "Wealth of the Sea." This could be pointed towards the wealth that had come through the maritime forays of Tipu Sultan, who had a powerful navy. It is built on the banks of the Kaveri River. Among such numerous glorious posts he held was when he just so happened to be a fierce resister to the British East India Company; he declared Srirangapatna as his capital. Tipu Sultan also fortified Srirangaptma as his stronghold during his rule. Among such considerable monuments included Dariya Daulat Palace, where his administrative functions, as well as other royal functions, were conducted since it was his summerhouse.

The Mysore kingdom had run successive wars with the British during the late 18th century, later known as the Anglo-Mysore Wars. This palace is of such high historical importance because it is known that Tipu Sultan used to carry all his affairs and chalk plans to defeat the British forces from here. It also contains the very famous place where the great battle of Srirangapatna took place in 1799, in which Tipu Sultan was martyred.

Now, Dariya Daulat Palace is a museum, and crowds of people from every nook and corner of the world visit there. There are many varieties of artifacts and relics found that depict Tipu Sultan in photographs, weapons, coins, and correspondence. It holds one of the prominent rulers of India and their struggle with British colonialism.

It Houses Major Exhibits Such As:

Personal belongings of Tipu Sultan include an armoury and swords. Paintings and portraits of Tipu Sultan and his Court, Anglo-Mysore War memorabilia, including the armed forces. This museum place could reach the palace grounds, hence it can provide educational facilities with information about his life and struggle and achievement to obtain freedom and to become its ruler. The museum has all the historical knowledge about colonial India.

Dariya Daulat Palace is also another important site of other Anglo-Mysore wars, and it was a part of the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War of 1799. This was the last time when the British East India Company had any interaction with Tipu Sultan. British took away Srirangapatna, and in that fighting, Tipu Sultan lost his life. British seized Srirangapatna after Tipu Sultan's death. That palace was looted by the British, along with most parts of the towns' area as well.

Tipu Sultan also designed the Dariya Daulat Palace and had vowed to be an anti-colonialism fighter. He founded the same but was martyred at last, along with his monuments. Dariya Daulat Palace surely can be termed as a fine example of the Indo-Saracenic genre blending Persian and Mughal with a Karnataka flavor. Wood was the predominant material used in the palace, but ornamentation and carvings reflect the aesthetic sense of the time.

The Architecture Of The Palace Consists

It is teakwood that forms the main wood of the palace. Nearly all the inner work, ranging from pillars to beams and even to walls, are intricately carved wooden structures. Motifs include floral patterns, animals, and scenes of the royal life. Beauty in the palace also shows an elaborate wooden ceiling.

Tiled Roof: The palace has a very highly unlike common tiled roof having sloping sides. Indeed, it is one of the very common features attached to the Mughal architecture.

Courts and Gardens: The palace offers exquisite courts on both sides, along with ornamentation. The lush green surrounding of the palace provides an invigorating climate. Open courts that are oriented towards the Kaveri River, having fountains and exuberant plants. This palace is decorated with some exquisite paintings that describe the life and achievements of Tipu Sultan. Most of these are the wars enshrined in the form of royal ceremonies, while some others are used as portraits of Tipu Sultan.

Tiled Walls and Murals: The inside walls of the palace have been titled with coloured murals, and each episode of Tipu Sultan's conquest and his wars with the British are elaborated. In these murals, information about the life of the king, as well as about the military adventures of the Sultan, is given.

How to Reach

Dariya Daulat Palace is approachable from cities such as Mysore, Bangalore, and other cities of Karnataka, which lie in a radius of nearly 20 kilometres and 125 kilometres, respectively. One may hire a private car taxi or bus to reach Srirangapatna. The palace is a walking distance from the town area or bus stand or at least takes a few minutes by rickshaw to cover.

  • By Train: Srirangapatna is accessible by its rail station, which can reach Mysore and Bangalore. From there, you can ride a train to Srirangapatna, which only takes a short drive or an auto-rickshaw to the palace.

3. Mysore Palace:

Shivanasamudra This place is also known for its beautiful Gaganachukki and Bharachukki waterfalls, counted amongst the most beautiful and important ones in southern India. It is famous for its natural and spiritual beauty. It enthralls adventure-seekers as well as nature lovers looking for a peaceful space. Shivanasamudra is a small village in Mandya district, Karnataka. Literally, this small village carries an attached importance to the name as it translates to "Shiva's Sea" or "Shiva's Island." This place has been historically and spiritually very important. The village remains on the banks of the River Cauvery, where the twin waterfalls - Gaganachukki and Bharachukki, are its major attractions, attracting thousands of tourists every year.

One of the most popular attractions in Shivanasamudra is Gaganachukki and Bharachukki, which are two waterfalls created from the waters of the Cauvery River. The taller one is Gaganachukki, which drops from about 98 meters (320 feet), tossing tough into a gorge below, thereby creating a picturesque scene with water falling down. The water in the falls swells up during the rainy season to create a thunderous roar and mist that complements the fantastic view. There are many viewing points around Gaganachukki that provide panoramic views of the falls and its beauty. From these viewing points, visitors may be able to feel the power of nature as they watch the water crash into the valley below.

Besides falling into the list of the world's finest waterfalls, Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary at Shivanasamudra is also a vast protected area covering over 1,027 square kilometres. For the wildlife lover, the sanctuary is absolutely delightful, with diverse flora and fauna, which include all its excellent African elephants, tigers, leopards, and bird species in great diversity. Nature walks and trekking trails, besides safari experiences, will be seen to encourage the visitors to experience the dense biodiversity. For the adventurous visitor, Shivanasamudra has a few unknown trekking routes through the dense forests and along the Cauvery. Though not so popular, it might be the rare experience of trekking through the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary.

This is also a good place for local handicrafts, though it is widespread in the towns near it, such as Mandya and Kollegal. Karnataka silk traditional wear, hand-woven fabrics, and wooden carvings are some of the things you can buy as local crafts and take home. You could get that stuff from markets around the falls. Those handmade items might be a great idea to go back home with you, and using those pieces in your home would reflect the culture of the place. Shivanasamudra offers river Cauvery waters, whose fishing might be in vogue during the calmer months as well as when the water stabilizes. A few species of fish have been known to thrive on these waters, thus it also happens to be an ideal destination for amateur fishing enthusiasts and for those who wish to understand the sustainable fishing within the region.

Shivanasamudra is not only a beautiful nature resort but also a firsthand experience of the raw power of nature and an opportunity for people to discover the wild beauty that Karnataka has to boast. Be it to adore the majesty of the Gaganachukki waterfalls to soak in the serenity that Bharachukki has to offer, or to push one deep into the rich biodiversity of the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, Shivanasamudra remains the must destination for all travellers alike. Being close to major cities like Mysore and Bangalore, it is an ideal location for a weekend trip in which one can soak up the long-awaited relief from the scrunched city life.

Points to Note:

Shivanasamudra has Gaganachukki Waterfall, the most beautiful fall, dropping 98 meters, and the falls form an amazing scene, basically during the rainy season when fully flooded. The misty spray of the waterfall adds to the experience. One of the most picturesque locales in the area. Bharachukki waterfall offers a wider and more peaceful view and thus has a more soothing and peaceful landscape. People visiting are mainly expecting to take some pictures, relax, or just stay at leisure.

There is also the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary for those who enjoy nature and wildlife in this region. The sanctuary is full of a variety of wild animals, like elephants, tigers, leopards, and many species of birds; therefore, it is ideal for those who love safaris, trekking, or wildlife photography. Aside from waterfalls, there are many other adventure activities one can experience while watching them. Boating near Bharachukki is definitely a special pleasure. The walk through the forest trails in the nearby forests provides the visitor an opportunity to explore the remaining natural beauty of the region.

There are Best Visiting Times

Shivanasamudra attracts visitors from October to March, just after the monsoon falls. The waterfalls are at their fullest during these months as lush greenery covers them, and it is a cool climate with a pleasant atmosphere for sightseeing.

Monsoon (June to September): Although excellent by monsoon, heavy rains would make it impossible to access the waterfalls and may also cause high water levels preventing proximity.

Winter (October to February): The best time to see is during winter, as the weather is amiable and falls appear at their finest. Some walking is involved in reaching viewpoints for the waterfalls, so don't forget to pack your comfortable shoes with sturdy soles if you have planned a trek or any of the secondary trails around the places.

Near the waterfalls, there are very few stalls selling local wares. Food and drinking water may become a problem. So carry water and some light snacks while visiting so that you remain refreshed. Shivanasamudra is a calm, natural place. Keep the local surroundings hygienic by throwing the litter properly. Do not scream beside waterfalls or disturb the wildlife in the sanctum.

Shivanasamudra is a tourist destination, but restaurants and hotels are few and far in the immediate area. If you happen to visit during or shortly after the monsoon season, check the weather conditions beforehand, as the water level gets pretty high and becomes very slippery and inaccessible sometimes. It is located in the Mandya district of Karnataka, about 85 km from Mysore and around 140 km from Bangalore. Shivanasamudra can be reached by road or public transport.

The nearest railhead to Shivanasamudra is Mandya railway station. It is about 30 km from there. Mandya railway station is well connected with trains from Bangalore and Mysore. From there, one can hire a taxi or take the local bus to Shivanasamudra. Nearest Airport: Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore - 120 km: One can hire a taxi or rent a car to reach the place from the airport. The road takes about 2.5 to 3 hours from the airport.

4. Golden Temple

The Golden Temple, otherwise known as Namdroling Monastery, is a large Tibetan monastery in India. It is located near Coorg or Kodagu district in Karnataka, India, in Bylakuppe. Of all the largest Tibetan settlements in India, this is certainly one of the prominent centres for learning Tibetan culture and Buddhism. The temple is mainly famous because of its architecture, soothing ambience, and gigantic gold idols of Buddhist deities. Established in the year 1963 by great Tibetan lama Pema Norbu Rinpoche, The Golden Temple is a monastic complex part of Namdroling Monastery. Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy is one of the oldest streams of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, which has been accommodated at this monastery. Built more as a spiritual and cultural home for Tibetan refugees, they had to flee from Tibet in the wake of China's occupation of the territory in the 1950s.

It is called so because of the extremely golden statues that adorn the inside of the primary shrine hall, which remain the ultimate focal point for the religious processes of this monastery. It is now a primary ground for the teaching and meditation of Tibetan Buddhism, which attracts thousands and thousands of pilgrims to witness and get an impression of Tibetan life and culture. Known are these beautiful, unique Tibetan structures in carvings and colors depicting the Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. Three towering gold-status of Lord Buddha, Padmasambhava known as Guru Rinpoche, and Amitayus, the Buddha of Long Life stand towering over the main altar in the temple, those were about 40-feet tall and pure gold leaves by which the temple has got its name.

These structures have walls and ceilings that have paintings, mural art, and detailed pictures on murals representing teaching scenes in Buddhism and the history of Tibet. These paintings infuse colours into the monastic, silent environment. This principal temple is multi-storeyed. It has been designed by taking into consideration the motifs traditionally followed by the Tibetans. Religious symbols adorn the walls, and rugs for praying cover the floors. Most of these prayer wheels can be found outside of the temple premises, and the visitors roll them while praying for peace and good fortune.

The Namdroling Monastery accommodates over 5,000 monks who follow the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. Daily activities in the monastery include rituals, prayer sessions, meditation, and teachings of Buddhism. There is a school within the monastery that teaches young Tibetan monks Buddhist scriptures, philosophy, meditation, and Tibetan art. All morning and evening prayers and rituals of the Monks are performed in the Golden Temple. The monastery performs all ceremonies and festivals with great enthusiasm and religious fervour, such as Tibetan New Year or Losar, Saga Dawa or Buddha's birthday, etc., or other events related to the celebrations of Buddhism.

Visiting the Golden Temple is an experience altogether unique because one can immerse in the peaceful and serene ambience of Tibetan Buddhist culture if desired by participating in some prayer sessions, meditation, religious/cultural practices of the Tibetans, and so on. The monastery is also a cultural centre, so one may learn about the traditions of Tibet, art, and food. You may acquire Tibetan handicrafts, incense, and prayer items in the shop of the monastery; this directly goes to helping the monks and their community.

5. Devanahalli Fort

Devanahalli Fort is located at an altitude of 35 km north of Bangalore, which encompasses a sense of the history, cultural values, architectural beauty, and military pride concerning this abode-Devanahalli Fort. Karnataka is home to one of its primary historical landmarks, precisely the birthplace of one of the prominent rulers of Mysore, Tipu Sultan: Devanahalli Fort. Although this fort may not be as well-explored as the other forts in India, it holds a lot in terms of historical worth and architectural value. It has seen the ages of many rulers, wars, and changes that bring this monument to Karnataka's treasury.

Devanahalli Fort was first constructed by the Mysore Sultanate in the 16th century. It has passed through many structural and ownership changes over the course of centuries. This construction surmised would point to existence since the 1500s when it was under construction by the local chieftain, Malla Baire Gowda. As one of the key bastions of the Gowda family and, of course, a location of strategic importance, would surely add to its case for being there. It placed upon a hillock through which it doubtlessly saw all the plains and its environs, and this afforded it some military advantage as well.

But its value historically is more and more intense because the hero, of course, that was utilized is Tipu Sultan himself. He was born here on this site of Devanahalli in the year 1751. Such a birthplace carried greater repute, and usually, such a fort is associated with the legend brought during his reign and war acumen. Though Tipu Sultan, too, faced his own share of battles with the British East India Company during his period, the ruler's early life and relations are still clearly visible in the fort of Devanahalli. Later, it is passed on to several other rulers-of course, here come the colonial rulers-like British.

The fort itself is an excellent example of military architecture during the Medieval period and reflects styles and techniques prevalent during that time. It is mainly made up of stone with thick walls, bastions, and gates to protect against invasion. The most salient feature of the architectural style of the fort is its fortified enclosure. It surrounded the main area with seven bastions mounted on cannons. Bastions enable the defenders to see what is happening around them better, but with this ability, they would be able to detect possible threats quickly.

The entrances to the fort, too, deserve a mention. Several gates are in the fort, but the main entrance is still quite well-preserved. Arched openings punctuate the walls of the fort, which have been strategically placed to offer defence and surveillance. Security and strategic planning are reflected in the design, as moats and watch towers have been strategically placed along the perimeter.

This makes the fort one of the main facets of life around Tipu Sultan's lifetime. He was born in 1751 in Devanahalli. Birth is one of the chief major milestones for any human life, but most of their lifetime is spent not living in Devanahalli. Not much is made of his personal, direct involvement, for he cared more for Srirangapatna and his battles against the British, but in a cultural-historical sense, it gives credence to the location through its connections with Tipu Sultan.

He earned the sobriquet Tiger of Mysore for his stern opposition against British imperialism. He popularized and gained recognition through his militant campaigns against the East India Company during the late 18th century. The fort at Devanahalli speaks about the early years and later times during his lifetime as a reminder of all the struggles.

It is also said that the fort has a great deal of affinity with Tipu Sultan's family. His father, Sultan Hyder Ali, had a military camp at Devanahalli and had this fort as the strategic base for his military operations. Though the whole of his adult life was spent elsewhere, the town and the fort have a strong affinity to his childhood and birth.

Other Places to Visit in and around Devanahalli

While the fort is surely one of the prime attractions to see in Devanahalli, there are still attractions situated right within the town itself. For example, Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple, one of the oldest temples in the general area, dates back to the time that Nandi Hills first started being used for sacrificial ritualistic purposes. It is a testimony to a rich religious past. The architecture and the carvings made this temple a landmark quite significant in history.

Nandi Hills is yet another very popular place, a very famous hill station, which lies 10 km from the city. This is a place of great sceneries, has a pleasant climate, and is a favourite spot to trek, hike, or as a weekend getaway destination. Nandi Temple, atop this hill station devoted to Lord Shiva, is also a special place for pilgrimage among locals.

Both human and natural factors can be quoted as contributing to the degradation of the fort over time. Karnataka State Government has also taken very active steps toward restoring and preserving the place with the rising interest of the historians, archaeologists, and tourist visits that includes cleaning up the site, repairing structures that have been damaged, and making it accessible to the visitors. One of the grand attractions is school trips and other planning explorers of history in the area.

Devanahalli Fort is actually a peep into medieval times, sending tourists right back into it. One can walk upon a stone path and just see what survives of the bastions and watchtowers and be a part of that which has long gone by. The place is pretty cool for the history lover, photographer, and all other persons who wish to gaze upon Karnataka's rich tapestry of history.

The fort is open throughout the year, but always advisable to visit during the cool months of October to March so that he can explore the whole place. A guide is also recommended to understand the importance of various features of the fort and to know more about its historical importance.

6. Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium

The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium at Bengaluru, Karnataka, is one of the institutions of repute in the country for research and educational pursuits in astronomy. It was instituted by the government to commemorate the name of India's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is significant in publicizing and educating people about the world of space and space astronomy. Indeed, this place is a great destination for children, students, families, and all science enthusiasts interested in finding an explanation of the very mysterious universe. Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium was established in 1989 by the Bangalore Association for Science Education, an organization engaged in science education and the popularization of science, especially for students. It is not just a place where celestial events are to be watched, but it is the hot hub for interactive learning, innovative exhibitions, and different types of educational programs.

The Bengaluru Planetarium was conceptualized in the late 1980s when the need for scientific outreach, particularly at that time across the gamut of astronomy, warranted that an intervention be made, and an important science educationist - K S Krishnan, played a good role in bringing the dreams to real life. It was inaugurated on 6th July 1989 by the then Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, and was done precisely with the hope of having space science and astronomy outreach to the citizenry. BASE, Bangalore Association for Science Education sponsored the construction of the planetarium and initiated an outreach program to popularize science and interest in space. In fact, the setting up of the planetarium marked a significant milestone in disseminating astronomical knowledge to a much larger section of society, at least in a city like Bengaluru, which has always been an IT and scientific research hub.

This represents that the modern architectural sense with functionality is very much present in the design of the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. The planetarium building is located in the heart of the city of Bengaluru and is near Cubbon Park, which symbolizes science and modernity. Dome-shaped is one of the most important features, which is used for the projection of celestial images. The screen is the actual projection area of the planetarium for its prime attraction: the Sky Theatre, where the highest quality of technology has been implanted to reproduce night skies accurately for immersion in genuine astronomy. The diameter of this planetarium's dome measures 15 meters, and it can project perfectly into it because of this size and can provide the experience of going astral as accurately as real.

The Sky Theatre is the Jewel of Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. It is one of the domes that shows a sequence of celestial events, including constellations, planets, stars, and galaxies. The visitors get almost a virtual tour of what the night sky looks like; they are led by expert speakers to comment on a wide array of celestial bodies and phenomena. All these programs at Sky Theatre are meant to attract all age groups and interested members of the public. Although some programs are usually planned and programmed for public attraction in general, others are just programmed for students only. In reality, information related to all these programs is fundamentally educational as it usually explains concepts and ideas, such as the solar system, the stars, the Milky Way galaxy, black holes, the Big Bang Theory, space missions, and many other issues.

Besides its usual daily shows at the Sky Theatre, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium has charted a number of other programs and events throughout the entire year. Such programs range from workshop participation to lectures and open sessions on star-gazing by the public. The planetarium incites public participation in these activities due to its propensity to delve deeper into astronomical subjects. Another very popular event the planetarium hosts is its star-gazing events. Chunchi Falls has many historical and cultural stories except scenic views. Not too far from Chunchi Falls is the legendary Ramanagara district, made famous for its association with the Indian blockbuster movie Sholay. The rocky, hilly land and landscape surrounding this district basically form the venue where this movie was shot, and parts of the surroundings close to Chunchi Falls bear semblance to this rugged beauty captured on celluloid. So the surrounding is something to be treasured by cinema lovers coming here to witness scenes.

Local culture around the people of Kanakapura and other villages in the locality mainly used to depend upon the resources around the Arkavathi River. To them, it remains a symbol of culture rather than a source of nature; the cascading waterfalls create the natural appeal that makes folks believe this river is consecrated, and there's a ritual and festival here around it, especially in those villages. Among them remains the rituals of the offering made by the river and the neighbouring trees for good harvest and prosperity. Trekking is among the trekking activities carried out by tourists to Chunchi Falls. This one is a really short, moderately difficult trek downhill through the rocky pathways in the forest to the falls. Those interested in seeing and getting acquainted with the wild, its flora, and fauna, and at least getting an eyesight of the Arkavathi River that passes through gorges can take up such a trek. A trek can be taken as a single and also in groups. It is the best way to connect with nature.

Chunchi Falls is absolute bliss for photography enthusiasts. The very picturesque setting-up of the waterfall surrounded by rocky terrains and luscious green forests creates an extensive scope for capturing some exciting shots, especially during monsoon, when the falls touch their fullest. The rise of mist from the falls, the rush of water, and the great landscapes make it a paradise for nature photography. Several camping organizers took people out overnight to camp near the falls. Just sleeping in the open with starlight up above and water crashing as background noises made it an experience quite unique. The best time to visit Chunchi Falls is during the monsoon season, June to September when the falls are at their best. There is abundant water flow, and the greenery around it is luscious and fresh. However, it should be noted that during the monsoon, the river can be dangerous with the strength of the current, so care needs to be taken near the river.

Chunchi Falls is always a treasure. It is in the heart of Karnataka and houses a particularly beautiful natural scenic area with exciting trekking possibilities and refuge from the hassles of busy city lives. Chunchi Falls is not just related to its flora and fauna but also has beautiful sceneries and peaceful ambience, which makes it a place of attraction for anyone, whether it is peace hunters, adventure hikers, or nature seekers for relaxation. This beauty and charm make it an ideal place for a great day trip or overnight camping.
